Grant Instruments donates a water bath to the RSPCA
Grant Instruments have once again supported another Wildlife Charity, the RSPCA East Winch Wildlife Centre, with the donation of an unstirred water bath.
The centre started in 1988 in response to the Seal distemper virus that struck hundreds of common seals in the North Sea. In 1992 they relocated to East Winch in Norfolk, and are now known as the RSPCA East Winch Wildlife Centre. They continue to treat sick and injured seals along with other British wildlife, such as hedgehogs, deer and a huge variety of birds and care for approximately 5000 casualties each year.
With a number of Grant products already at their disposal, Sue Levings, wildlife administrator at the RSPCA, approached us in need of a new bath for the centre. The unit would be required for warming up the animals feed, such as hedgehog, leveret and rabbit milk and keeping bags of intravenous fluid warm.
On realising our equipment was being used for such a worthy cause, on October 13th 2015, Grant decided to visit the wildlife centre and donate a 5 litre bath from our Sub Aqua Pro advanced unstirred water bath range.. We were greeted by Alison Charles, manager at the wildlife centre, who took the time out to give a grand tour of the facility. It was then that we discovered two old Grant baths dating back to the 1960’s, still fully functioning and in constant use, however, due to the volume of new animal arrivals to the centre an additional bath was needed.
“We were thrilled to be given the water bath and we put it into use straight away to warm a young hedgehog’s milk feed in an isolation ward. It is great to have the support of local firms and we hope the bath will be in use for as many years as our others.”
We look forward to supporting the RSPCA in the future!
